Students applying to Illinois State as a freshman may be considered for Early Admission into nursing by marking "nursing major" as the major of choice on the Illinois State application. Those students who are accepted into the Early Admission Nursing Program will receive an acceptance letter from the Illinois State University Office of Admissions specifying acceptance into major "111-04 Early Admission Nursing". Requirements to remain in this program include: earning a "C" or better in all required prerequisite courses and maintaining a consecutive cumulative grade point average of a 3.0 on a scale of 4.0. Any student not adhering to the above criteria will be moved to Undeclared major status and will need to reapply to the nursing major during specified time periods. Students admitted via the Early Admission option must be enrolled full-time at Illinois State University while completeing their prerequisite coursework and general education requirements unless the student receives prior approval from their academic advisor. Failure to do so could result in dismissal from the program.
Students are accepted into the major on a competitive and selective basis. The number of students admitted into the major may vary from year to year depending on program capacity, enrollment targets, and qualifications of students in the pool.
