On April 19, 2009, Elizabeth Guth received the Future Alumni Leader Award at the Student Involvement Recognition Ceremony. The Future Alumni Leader Award was established in 1998 to give academic departments and schools the opportunity to recognize one student for outstanding service and demonstration of potential as an alumni leader to Illinois State University. The basis of the award is on the premise that students who are highly involved in service efforts will continue their commitment to service after graduation and will become alumni leaders.
Elizabeth was the 2008-09 Student Nurses Association President, and participated in several community service activities throughout the year. She graduated in May, and will be working as a RN in the CVCU at BroMenn in Normal.
“I was completely and utterly surprised when my name was announced for winning this award,” Guth said. “I did not expect it at all. It is a great honor and I will always keep this title close to my heart as I plan to continue to support Illinois State University and Mennonite College of Nursing the rest of my life.”
Guth added that she could not have received this award without the support of the entire Mennonite College of Nursing faculty and staff. “They were behind me 100% this past year and I really appreciated working with each of them.”
