Application Process

To be considered for admission, applicants must complete the following as directed. Applications will be accepted through February 1st for the Fall semester. Materials received after this deadline will be considered on a space-available basis. Only complete applications will be reviewed.

Applicants must complete the on-line application for admission to Illinois State University's Office of Admissions. Applicants are required to submit official transcripts from all prior collegiate academic work, and official scores from the Graduate Record Examinations (GRE) general test. The GRE is waived for students with a grade point average of 3.4 or higher in the last 60 semester hours of undergraduate course work or 30 hours of graduate course work.

As part of the online application, applicants will be required to complete and/or submit supplemental materials to Mennonite College of Nursing.

Applicants will provide the following information online:

  • Upload 3-5 page essay outlining research interest and career goals
  • Indicate preferred plan of study


Applicants will mail the following to the address below:

  • Evidence of licensure as a Registered Nurse in Illinois (not required until student has been accepted)
  • Reference Form: Three (3) letters of reference from persons qualified to assess your potential to succeed in the doctoral program. One reference MUST be from a doctorally prepared nurse.
  • Curriculum Vitae Form
